Director Gabriel Lakey in Colorado

Director Gabriel Lakey is in Colorado for the week, returning next Wednesday for the completion of the trailer.

Trailer almost finished

Director Gabriel Lakey reports that the trailer is almost complete, sans music. We'll be getting that to our composers real soon. It still needs some title cards (and film-specific fonts) before it is complete.

ExecProd in LA

Before leaving on his visit to LA, EP Jeffrey Gold spoke at length with sound editor and sound designer Jim LeBrecht (The Devil and Daniel Johnston, Daughter from Danang) about the sound editing/sound mixing ideas for Pigweed. He flew into LA Thursday morning and is in Beverly Hills staying with producer friend Deborah Mozer (GirlsAreBiggerThanBoys) and actor Sila Agavale (Darkroom). Staying behind, braving the capricious weather, director Gabriel Lakey is continuing to edit the trailer. Executive producer Jeffrey Gold will be having dinner on Saturday with Grammy award-winning composer Merv Warren (A Raisin in the Sun), whom he met at the BMI Composers Roundtable at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, and award-winning film composer Vincent Gillioz, whom he knows from the 2006 Park City Film Music Festival.

Enhanced Website

We've enhanced the website a bit by adding a music excerpt; the selection is a preliminary piece written for Pigweed Philosopher. Composer Jeffrey Gold will soon be heading to Las Vegas to record the score with composer and guitar virtuoso Vince Lauria. Director Gabriel Lakey is getting ready to cut a trailer for Pigweed Philosopher to include on the website. We'll keep you posted.

Grant Application

We recently applied for a documentary completion grant. We are waiting to hear back from the granting institute later this summer. We'll keep you posted on any significant news.

Production Update

Pigweed Philosopher is still in post-production. We are close to picture lock, and are about to embark on the score with award-winning film composers Vince Lauria and Jeffrey Gold. This will be followed by sound editing and sound mixing by award-winning sound editor and sound designer Jim LeBrecht of Berkeley Sound Artists. Stay tuned!
